The National Private Truck Council (NPTC) is the national organization
which represents the concerns and issues of companies who use "in-house"
or dedicated truck fleets to support distribution of their products and
services.
Members benefit from NPTC's work on a wide range of issues, including federal
and state tax regulations, safety, and environmental issues. NPTC counsels
agencies on regulatory and rulemaking proceedings and, when appropriate,
participates in court cases.
NPTC also offers its members a wide range of valuable information and resources.
Each month, members receive Safety and Compliance News and
Private Carrier, NPTC's monthly magazine, as well as the monthly
Info-Pak Private Line report for up-to-the-minute news and
information. Members also have access to services such as the Annual Conference,
Pins and Patches driver safety program, PRIVATE-LINK backhaul clearinghouse, the
Spill Center spill management service, and Share the Road; a program designed to
help private fleets develop good relations within their communities. NPTC is
also very involved in the research and development of Intelligent Vehicle
Systems (ITS) to improve commercial vehicle safety and operations.
NPTC also offers the most
comprehensive training for private fleet operations through the Private Fleet
Management Institute, NPTC's non-profit education and research affiliate. PFMI
sponsors: the Certified Private Fleet Manager (CPFM) program, the only
certification program for private fleet managers; the six-day
Fleet/Transportation Management Series, the most comprehensive collection of
private fleet management knowledge available in the industry.
NPTC members also benefit from participation in Driver Pay Profiles, Job
Analyses, Executive Compensation Studies, and the Private Benchmarks of Quality
and Productivity.
